I first stumbled upon Mark Rydens work while in Pasadena years ago. My friend Alicia took me to the opening at the Mendenhall Gallery. His work was beautiful. Something with the colors he used & self imposed references, made every one of his paintings a curious pleasure to look at.

I recently went to his showing in Santa Ana, Ca. The body of work didn't disappoint. My favorite of the set was Jessica's Hope , not only for the execution of the image, but more so for the explanation he gave about it. Every time I read it I find myself thinking, "I should read this every day."
